Of Men and Horses- The Mane 'n Tail line

Available sizes: 32 oz., 16 oz., 12 oz. 2 oz.
My relationship with the Mane 'n Tail line began innocently enough. I was browsing a store and caught a glimpse of a row of white bottles with yellow and blue labels, blue caps and of all things- the silhouettes of two horses. It was in the hair products aisle, so naturally, I had to investigate. As it turned out, the bottles were conditioners and shampoos. As it also turned out, the product was designed for both human and animal use. No joke. There were “Directions for Human Use” and “Directions for Animal use” printed on the bottles. “B-B-But”, you say? Well, let me not spoil the interesting story of origin for you: read it here: http://www.straightarrowinc.com/who2.asp.
The Mane 'n Tail Boast:
The Shampoo: This exclusive micro-enriched protein formula thoroughly cleanses the hair without stripping natural oils leaving it soft, shiny and manageable.

Now, like any product junkie worth his/her salt, when I first bought my “horsey” shampoo and conditioner (original), I found an excuse to use it right away: “Oh hair, you have suddenly gone dirty!” I loved the scent of both. It wasn’t too “up in your face- look at me, I’m a human AND animal hair product”. I enjoyed the rich lather of the shampoo and was more than relieved that it didn’t leave my hair a dry mess- like that Dudu-Osun Black Soap as a shampoo idea. I did get a bit worried though as my enthusiastic rubbing left my hair a bit tangled.
But, my fears of a totally tangled mess disappeared right away when I applied the conditioner. Oh that conditioner- it made me feel as if I never really knew the meaning of detangling until then. I let the conditioner sit for about five minutes, then rinsed it out and proceeded to my normally moisturizing, protecting, drying and styling routine. I imagined that I saw some difference in my hair- it felt and looked a bit more voluminous and there was definitely a more noticeable sheen, bounce and softness. But…that could have just been my mind (yeah…right!)
My history since then:
I continued using both products every other week for almost a year- totally loving the results. I even switched it up a bit going for the Mane 'n Tail Deep Moisturizing Shampoo 12 oz. and the Mane 'n Tail Deep Moisturizing Conditioner 12 oz. But, then it happened. The shampoo (both types) and I grew apart. The honey moon was over and I just didn’t think it had convinced me that I needed to dump my old shampoo(s). The conditioner and I (both types) grew closer though, largely because of its usefulness as a leave-in conditioner and daily moisturizer. It wasn't heavy and didn't weigh my hair down. A little went a long way and I could apply as often as I needed! My other hair moisturizers can tell you of the neglect they suffered after the Mane n Tail conditioner came into our lives. I took to applying a tiny bit at morning and night and just totally loving the results. I’d used it too during the day to battle flatness or dullness. Several years later...our relationship is still strong. I mean, I might stray- every now and then- but that conditioner knows I’ll always come back to it. I’ve also used other products from the line- but the conditioner is the only product I keep returning to.
