Mane Texturez- Week 10

Monday 14th June 2010

So, I’ve done two weeks of “Fluff week”, and it has been quite a beneficial time for my hair, allowing me to partake in numerous deep conditioning treatments as well as adding moisture to my strands daily.

After two weeks, and knowing that I was coming up to a busy period at work, I decided it would be wise to have my hair braided up. I decided I didn’t want anything too complicated or intricate; just something neat and tidy.

Here is what I had done.

simple braids

It's a simple cornrowed style made up of two layers with some braids added in the front for a bang. Not that you can really tell from this image but the braids are done in a sort of zig zag angled pattern.

I was inspired by this image .

I liked the thickness of the models braid, as well as the fact the style itself is quite and simple, since I only plan on keeping the style in for 3 weeks max. The braids work quite well when the top half isn’t in a ponytail, also which I appreciated. The brand of hair I used for this was Batik (which is part of the Outre family of hair). Its a great brand of synthetic hair, and it is also very affordable (I think I paid no more than £6.00 for each packet), which is great news! The one I used was straight, probably a yaki. I used two packets for my hair, because of how thick I wanted the braids. They we’re done in the ghanaian method of adding pieces of hair to the braid as it is done until it reaches its desired thickness.

The only thing with using this hair is the need to either tie the end or use elastics at the end of each braid (which I’m fine with), otherwise the silky texture of the hair will force it to unravel almost immediately.

After I take down this hair I plan to do a fluff week and then restyle.

This is a reminder!!
