Hi guys! Welcome back for another week of Mane Texturez.

Today, we bring you a new Mane Review. This one is a little different. Today I bring you hot hair. Essence's Hot Hair special issue, that is.

Released earlier this month as a special 'FALL ISSUE" (means it should still be in stores ladies!) this magazine is a collection of pics which fit the bill of hot hair!

With a blend of Celeb, salons, and street pics, you will find this mag very balanced!

If I am honest, I will admit that I didn't expect very much from this issue when I first picked it up. I assumed it would be like most black hair mags in the market, filled with women with relaxed hair, or loads of weaves. The fact it claimed to contain a "natural hair blowout" did little to enthuse me since usually that means one page with a token afro on it.

This was different however. Packing a bit of everything, from braids to weaves, from locs, to curls, from fros to clean shaven hair, this mag is truly refreshing. It was clear that Essence truly tried to showcase as many diverse styles as possible.

I'd say the most interesting bit of the mag to read was the "making hairstory" section which takes a look at how trends reappear in different incarnations. Think your favourite celebrity is original and fresh? Well, they may just be recreating a style which has been done before.... So, according to Essence, Amber Rose, is an incarnation of Model AzMarie, who has taken style tips from the legend that is Grace Jones.

Speaking of style pioneers, the magazine also showcases Goapele's hot new braided style. Since shedding her locs, Goapele has made quite a style transformation. I wasn't quite sure what she was going to do with her hair, after her locs. They were a really strong look for her. However, she has not disappointed. Here she is featured with Janelle Monae and Jill Scott in the "Super Naturals" feature in the magazine.
