Welcome to The Style X-Change

Welcome to the the Style X-Change.

How apt! The seasons are currently changing, New York Fashion week is currently in full swing, and as I sadly mourn the loss of British Summer, and retire my Summer wardrobe to the cupboards for another year, I have to start planning what needs to be replaced for Autumn/Winter 2010. The only positive about this whole thing is that I will be heading to New York myself in 2 weeks, so you know what that means! SHOPPING!!!

I like fashion, but I wouldn’t say I follow trends, not religiously anyway. I like to incorporate stylish and trendy elements into my wardrobe, but I also like to attempt to be a bit more fashion forward with my “styling”. I would describe my style as Urban Classic Quirky. I’m known to customize items so they fit my personality, rather than just wearing things straight off the rack.

This in no way, shape or form makes me an expert in fashion. I do not regard myself a fashionista; I also do not profess to know everything about every designer that ever existed. The Style X-Change for me is a place to share my own views on the things I like, and don’t like.

With all that said, lets get started.

So as I said before, the British summer has pretty much drawn to a disappointing close. The leaves are turning golden, withering and falling off of their trees, nights are becoming darker, and the weather is more than a little temperamental. Preparation is needed.

I have begun to think about the staples I require to get me through the winter. This forms the possible lists for my shopping trip to NYC as well as things which I may need to replenish in everyday shopping trips, should I require them. I am trying to adopt the mantra of UK stylist Gok Wan to shop less and wear more.

This is what I figure I always need:

  1. A nice selection of cardigans and sweaters. Layering is key in the autumn since the weather is still so hit and miss, the weather can range from wet and windy to warm and sunny within a day!
  2. More V-neck t-shirts in a variety of colours, mainly navy blue, white, black, nude
  3. Knee length, flat black boots
  4. Leggings
  5. Smart trousers.
  6. A selection of nice dresses.

Like I said, I will be heading to NYC in a week and a half, and although the exchange rate isn't what it used to be, I figure I can source some really good bargains, and some great pieces. There is nothing worse than going shopping without a list, so what I have decided to source in New york includes:

  1. A shearling aviator flight jacket
  2. A smart mac
  3. A casual bomber
  4. Some nice jersey basic dresses
  5. Smart trouser
  6. Cardigans and sweaters.

So outside of my shopping escapades, what can you expect from the Style X-Change over the coming weeks? Well we will look at the trends as shown through the fashion industry. We will also look at how the high street has taken these trends and translated them to their own collections.

But Sherisse we want more! And more you shall get! Not only will there be articles on fashion, but we will also feature pieces on Make-up trends, we will be producing video tutorials and special reports. Men, you too will be represented as we will feature loads of male fashion pieces too.

Mane Texturez readers don't despair. There will still be regular hair updates! The next one will be due in about 3 weeks time!!!

Next week on the Style X-Change: Trend 1 Modern Militaria.
