Mane Texturez Week 18

Monday 9th August 2010

It would seem that sometimes good ideas are bred out of problems. My problem is simple: I'm bored and impatient with this process. Sometimes it feels as though my hair won't grow fast enough, co-operate enough, or look the way I imagine... IMMEDIATELY!! In times like these, I find myself thinking about possibly succumbing to the creamy crack. For some reason, in times like these, my rose tinted spectacles make me think that maybe those days were easier. I have a devil and an angel on my shoulder. One saying, stay strong keep going, and the other saying, give up, relax (literally).  I remember a few weeks into the beginning of Mane Texturez, I anticipated that this would happen. And, one of the things I thought/noted would help combat this would be a "Hair Journal". Just a collection of photos which keep you on track with your aim and keep you motivated against reverting to the thing you wanted to change in the first place.

That was around 4 months ago, and, to be honest, I didn't really take my own advice. It's like one of those things which sounds like a good idea, but you never get round to it. Like cleaning out the basement or drinking 2 litres of water a day every day.

But no more I tell you. This weekend I had the rare opportunity to do this task and I made a start. I decided to expand the theme just a little bit so that it didn't get too boring, but here goes.  A-la Gisele Scanlon's style in her very famous book The Goddess Experience: Custom-made for You (both I and II) I have decided to compile a notebook of things which make me happy, which inspire me and which I find beautiful. The main theme is Hair, but it goes as far as having makeup, looks and clothing which inspire me to try different looks.

Here's what you need for your own:

1. A beautiful notebook

2. A pen which inspires you to be creative

3. A selection of magazines (for me this also offered a brilliant recycling opportunity since it seems I have mountains of Hair magazines taking over my space)

4. Scissors and Glue.

The brilliant thing about this task is that, firstly, it means you get rid of a lot of junk. Like I said, I have many hair mags, but for the most part I don't even like ALL of the content. This way I can compile what I like and get rid of the rest. Also it means I can make notes next to the pictures indicating what it is I actually like and it's a great record that I can look back on in many moons time! I intend to add personal pics of styles I may have tried also just to keep it personal. I will try to post pics of things I have added so that you too can share in some of the inspiration.

Do you guys have something similar?
