Mane Texturez Week 21

Monday 30th August 2010

All hail the new transitional style!

As with most things, I had become bored with the weave. I was bored with having to style it and bored with having to maintain my own hair which was left out. I had promised to avoid styles which required too much straightening of my own hair, but this style meant that I needed to at least every other day. NOT IDEAL!

Anyway, this time I decided to try something different. I went to the hairdressers to have my hair deep conditioned and braided. Usually, if I'm having my hair styled at the salon, I at least make sure it's washed and conditioned beforehand. I do this for two reasons. Firstly, it means I can monitor what's being used in my hair. Having some level of consistency in the products I use is very important to me as it means I can monitor what works and what doesn't. Secondly, it means it cuts down on time; deep conditioning is a long process and adding braiding to that means that's a whole day in a salon!

Anyway, moving on, I was looking for something quite different in a style. Something quite quirky and fun which would last for a few weeks. Here was my inspiration.

I really love the asymmetric styling of her hair, although I'm not too sure about the shaping of the style. It looks a little unfinished. Anyway this was what I wanted. Braided on one side and curls on the other.
